In through the out door

Poor Ray Jennings, meanwhile, can rightly feel aggrieved -- having presided over a turnaround in South Africa's cricketing fortunes (remember the brownwash in Sri Lanka, part of a sequence of 11 straight one-day defeats for the once number two team in the world?), he could with justification have expected to hold on to his job after his side blanked the West Indies in both Tests and ODIs.

The pink slip -- which he dared the UCBSA to give him -- has his name on it, and Mickey Arthur, coach of a provincial side, gets the job.

Poor Mickey -- if the UCBSA can sack a successful coach, wonder what kind of super-success he will need to achieve to hang on to his job.
