And a question...

Mike Selvey, in the Guardian, weighed in a while back on the Rest of the World SuperTest team to play Australia in Sydney in November -- which leads me to ask, have you guys picked your team yet?

  • My test team would be:
Sehwag, Smith, Dravid (C), Lara, Tendulkar(if he is injured then Inzamam), Kallis

    All rounders:

    Wicket Keeper:

    Pollock, Ntini, Akhtar, and Murali

Kumble, Harmison (If he kicks ass in Ashes he can replace Ntini/pollock depending on form), and VVS Laxman. If its a turning wicket Kumble will replace Pollock.

    One day Team:
Sehwag, Gibbs, Dravid (C), Kallis, Sangakarra, Tendulkar (if he is injured then afridi), Razaq, Flintoff, Pollock, Ntini, Murali

    Malik, Vaas, Peterson

I think the test team has a much better chance of beating aussies than the one day team.

I know that a few of the guys are not there in the selected probables list..

    MY ODI team:

  • My team is here!

The blog has the reasoning, but the Test line up I chose was:
Sehwag, Vaughan, Dravid, Tendulkar, Lara, Flintoff, Sangakkara, Pollock, Bond, Kaneria, Murali
This was before the probables were announced, and I'd probably replace Bond with Harmison, and pray that he has a good enough Ashes to overcome those home sickness pangs of his.

  • I want to pose a slightly unrelated question: How did the good folks at ICC arrive at Sydney as the choice of venue for the Test Match?
Wonder if the fact that it is one of the least pace-friendly (and, equally important, most spin/batting friendly) tracks in the country had something to do with it:)
