County watch

After yesterday's slap-and-tickle at the Rose Bowl, serious action on the English county circuit -- including a couple of marquee games for Indian fans.
The Taunton game pitting the Aussies against Somerset an early indication that the usual suspects are in good form with the bat -- and that Brett Lee, thus far, is posing no terrors with the ball. Graeme Smith and Sanath Jayasuriya keeping Somerset in the game with a neat opening partnership -- and McGrath going 5.4-0-30-0 as I write this.
Meanwhile Warne, who is not in action at Taunton, taking his own share of punishment at the Rose Bowl, where Surrey, with Harbhajan in its ranks, takes on Hampshire.
And in Southgate, Glamorgan off to a good start in the game against Middlesex, which will see Irfan Pathan and Saurav Ganguly on opposite sides.
As always, guys, appreciate any eyewitness reports you can provide, on these and other games of interest.

  • Smith and Jayasuriya creaming the aussies...146/0 in 17 overs...Aussies in some trouble here!!!..

  • Prem, Dont let that bowling Figure fool you, Mcgrath will bounce back in no time, btw Kaspa gone for 30 in 3 overs and Watson 14 in 1. Now Mcgrath's figure look world class in comparison.

  • As I was posting the above, Watson & Kaspa both are 41 in 3.

  • Smith and Jayasuriya might be creaming the aussies at the moment, but once one of them gets out, the game is as good as over, as there aren't any other international batsmen in the side !!

  • Can't be so sure mate...some good blokes to follow....blackwell is in terrific form this season....But anyway...I don't think somerset are going to need anyone apart from these two...176/0 in 20 overs...Smith 100 of 68 balls...half way there!!

  • Taunton is traditionally a batting paradise. Remember Ganguly and Dravid flaying SL in WC 99 match. India score 360 in that game I think. SO I think 5.4-0-30-0 is pretty good bowling by McGrath. The openers too are of high quality (Jayasurya and GC Smith).

  • Somerset's 327/6 and need 16 runs with 4.2 overs remaining as i type this...i think their actually gonna pull this off..:-)..whats going on with Australia?..unless this is a Buchanan/ Ponting secret plan to lull the English into thinking their going to be pushovers..:-D..and then when the real stuff starts...WHAMMO!..:-O..lol..highly unlikely..but who knows..this could be the summer Australia finally know how it feels to loose the Ashes...Big Supporter of Australia usually..but this is one time I'm rooting for the English..bout time they won something..:-D..332/6 now..just 11 runs to get..3.5 overs left...
