Last post

The things we do! Why the devil would I waste time counting how many posts there were today?
Donno -- but figured 13 posts on the 13th was a bit, um, much; so this, just to change the math :-)
Actually, this is an open forum; I'll be late to work tomorrow, likely only get there around 1 pm or so; blog therefore opens for business by 2 pm NY time. In the interim, appreciate any links you can send me, and any eyewitness updates on the course of the Tsunami game.
Good night all, catch you tomorrow.

  • The BBC radio commentary is a pretty good....atleast for those of us who have no access to video! Catch it if you can! Go to

and click on the tsunami match.

as i speak, Laxman is beginning to play like only laxman can!

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 08:04

  • And just as i clicked on Publish, Laxman edges a ball and is back in the pavillion! Damn!

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 08:05

  • The match is meaningless, what with International XI using 10 bowlers....

By Anonymous saurabh wahi, at 09:23

  • Prem,

Is there anyway to stop "anonymous" people on this blog. It's confusing, so say the least :-)

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:42

  • Gangs failed again at the first taste of international class fast bowling. What more ? Got dismissed just like it happened in Paki series, clean bowled.

Did anyone see the matchg?Did he hang around after getting clean bowled, trying to see if he is really out?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:45

  • The BBC is offering a live audio feed over the Internet

    By Blogger avinash, at 11:46

  • Gangs got an inside edge - he had just hit Vaas for two glorious 4's. tried to cut and played it on - duh! quit lynching him :P

of course, expect Cricinfo to post a photo with minimal comments.

    By Blogger chatura, at 11:50

  • Chatura! what is this obsession with Gangs? Are you going critize cricinfo because they did not add comments like 'not really clean bowled, gangs got unlucky, he was in good touch etc etc'?

did you see cricinfo adding a lot of comments to other pics?

My motto is to love cricket & my team(in that order), not the crickter. Sure, applaud , praise, celebrate good performances, but thats it!!

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:00

  • sorry, am leading a crusade against "bash dada coz we are bored" crowd :-)

oh, cmon, cricinfo posted that photo just to trigger similar reactions as yours.

i do love my cricket team and i do not bash anyone 'unnecessarily'.

anyway, i am watching the game and hence clarified your questions.

    By Blogger chatura, at 12:05

  • Well what did the other indian batsman with the exception of laxman(well he faced the spinners shane - his favorite and lara during the end of the innings) do??
sehwag hit 5, dravid 18 of 29 balls.. so u cant blame dada alone hre.. look at the other indian batsman and then we can say that dada performed to the indian team's form :)

By Anonymous Saurabh wahi, at 12:28

  • This is for that 'anon' who has been posting on other threrads as well about Ganguly's dismissal. How can you even ask chatura whether he's obsessed with Dada when you are doing the other opposite? He's just defending Dada, you are the one who is obsessed with him in a negative way. I think you are the same person who couldn't digest his 142 the other day and posted a lot of negative comments. Get you act right dude.

    By Anonymous Jai, at 13:39

  • Jai The very fact these people use anonymous names tell a whole lot about their mentality. They post in such names so that they cannot be identified. I dont understand who they are running from. now to cricket, the tsunami match was interesting in the first half in terms of runs, I thought VVS played well . The second of was good for 2 of our premier spinners!! Dravid was playing fluently and for no reason seemed to have applied the brakes? Overall it was for a good cause lets leave it at that.

    By Anonymous Sri, at 13:47

  • Sri,

I dont think everyone who uses anonymous names has the mentality you are talking about. People like me are just too lazy to go through that extra step.

    By Anonymous SP, at 13:51

  • Sp May be i should not have generalised but mostly I have seen anon guys bashing some one or bringing up zonal support like bengalis support dada etc while thats not really true. I am a Southie who is very much an admirer of him for his qualities. I like the whole Indian team when they play well of course;)

    By Anonymous Sri, at 13:55

  • Sri and Jai! just adding a user name and password doesn't make your identity public. You are as anonymous as any 'anonymous' posters here. Its not like your name, address and phone number is public. So don't sweat.

I am neutral on Gangs. I don't dislike him. But I definitely dislike so called gangs worshippers.
What's up with all the noise and commotion about 'dada this, dada tiger..' tamasha.

Poor Prem! had to write so many posts 'explaining' his previous posts about Gangs. Just like Prem explained, Gangs worshippers never seem to analyze or discuss the issue on hand, simple call 'anon' guys are bad, hiding etc talk. Play the ball guys, not the person.

BTW, even though I don't dislike Gangs the batsman (in previous form), I definitely think , Ganags is a average on-field captian. He is good off field in terms of supporting the team, team formation etc. But, I think he is past his sell by date as captain.

    ..Anon forever

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 14:05

  • Anon Guess You did not have the time to read my message fully:) I had said i do like him for his qualities. I never said I worship him. Also I mentioned I like the Indian team as a whole Unit when do perform well of course. TEAM meaning all the participants including the coach, players to the support staff.

    By Anonymous Sri, at 14:07

  • Sri! :) isn't it funny.. I think you will have to read mine fully too. Did I ever say 'sri' is a gangs worshipper or atleast gangs supporter. I simply said, I dislike gangs worshippers. I was only explaining my position about gangs and not alluding to any of your opinions. Hope you understand my view. Peace.

phew!! too much explaining to do on this forum and too lil discussion on Cricket..

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 14:23

  • You are right but you did address the message to me and jai. Duh!! doesnt that mean something?

    By Anonymous Sri, at 14:27

  • it just means that I was explaining my position to you
since you seemed to criticize my 'anon' status. I was not calling you gangs worshipper. I do not remember reading any of your previous posts, so I don't know.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 14:30

  • If thats the case its my bad. I apologize. Atleast you can live in peace now:)

    By Anonymous Sri, at 14:37

  • Mr. Anon Forever,
Just like you have a problem with Gangs worshipper, I have a problem with people like you who are hellbent on finding mistakes with Dada. In the last game when he made 142, even Prem was very happy to make some positive comments as were people who were posting here. You were the only one who wanted to spoil the party. If supporting Dada or feeling happy for the success of the National Captain makes us Dada 'worshipper', how can you call yourself just 'neutral'? To further prove my point, you seem to be only one on this thread who is happy to see Dada fail in the Tsunami match. Don't call yourself 'neutral'. Come clean dude. Are you afraid of the Dada supporters?

    By Anonymous Jai, at 15:00

  • Jai! I am here for cricket and I am going to ignore all your comments pointed at me. But , here is my analysis of ganguly. hope your will 'play the ball, and not direct your tirade against me'. Just to be sure, read all my posts and you will see me repeating the same thing over and over again. No so called gangs supporter responded to my cricket points, but a lot of them were talking to me.

I have no special likes or dislikes for Gangs. I enjoyed it immensly when he was at his peak opening the innings in ODIs. Of course he's been sorted out by all the international bowlers for a while now and he is just not in touch.

Coming to his captaincy, I think, Ganags is a average on-field captian. Not very good with strategy and cricket insight. Took a few decisions out of sentiment like retaining dinesh mongia for WC final. But, he is good with off field related matters in terms of supporting the team, team formation etc. Better than Sachin in this respect and also, he is probably the first captain who thought without bias in supporting the players etc. In fact, we can even say, he formed a national team(in the true sense) for the first time. look at our team now, we have guys from AP,Karnataka,Bengal,Bihar, punjab, everywhere. I said all this earlier too. But, all the gangs worshippers were gung ho about me and refused to discuss what I brought up, but rather were talking about me.

But, I think , in the end he is well past his sell by date as captain. He helped in forming the team, gave it aggression etc, but we need to go beyond that now and go to next level. Indian team simpy cannot carry a person if he is not contributing.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 15:26

  • Mr. Anon Forever,
If you continue your tirade against Dada, you can't just expect people to accept your BS and move on. If you think he is past hi sell by date, you are entitled to live with it. Many people still want him to lead and that's why they feel that it'll be better for India if he comes back to form. There's no question of him not contributing and still leading the side. I don't think anyone has even suggested that.

What shows you in poor light is you highlighting Dada failing in today's match while not commenting on others and then as I have said, being the only spoil sort on that day when he scored 142. It seems like you don't want Dada to be back on form. Isn't that personal vendetta?

You can ignore my post friend, but if you continue like this, you will get suitable replies from others. You can ignore their posts too. But the question is why post here in the first place if you want to avoid everyone? Better would be to think about your own beliefs and views. You can't just brush everyone off as Dada worshippers. We are not kids dude. Whoever don't agree with you and support Ganguly doesn't necessarily become a worshipper.

    By Anonymous Jai, at 16:08

  • jai! I have no time. Nothing in my posts sounds like tirade. what is your problem? I am right here, I am not running away, and I am hoping for and inviting cricket related responses to my posts.

what is this talk about party and being a spoil sport? so if all the gangs supporters are over joyed, I should shut up..is that it?

Not sure of others, but you definitely seem to be a gangs worshipper.

Also, this is my last response to you regarding this. I will respond only if you talk cricket.
