The plus one ploy

Someone, Saurabh I think, mentioned Barry Richards a while ago. Remember writing about that on Rediff. The other thing BR said was about working the math on a chase.
Look at it this way, Barry said, if you are chasing 300, that is a mountain, so you tell yourself, I am chasing 6 this over.
Assume you make only 5. Tell yourself, start of the next over, I need 6+1. If you make 8 next over, you are saying at the start of the 3rd, not five, but 6, that way you get ahead of the game.
That works perfectly towards the close of a chase... actually works for those following the game too, takes the complex math out of it, and reduces it to a simple +1, -1 formula.

  • No chances against Muralitharan...I guess. Not a bad ploy.

I still remember the WC in Eng where he was taken apart by SG and RD!!!

  • Damn it. A English collegue of mine just walked up, looked at the score and said "76 of 11 is easy, England do it in Test matches"

Now every English guy is an expert in cricket. God forbid what will happen if they do win the Ashes..

  • Hey Prem, how did Dravid get out? Was it Kaif's fault?
