Requiem

Right... so that didn't last long, which is the best you can say for it. Any other comments, on a game where the side chasing had merely to bat through 50 overs -- against a team with just one real high class bowler in it -- and manages to get itself bowled out before the halfway mark, wouldn't be printable, not on a family forum.
You guys take care. AS promised, Ashes and all other matters cricketing resume in earnest on here Monday onwards.

  • Prem Dont you think its better we call of all the tour and go back to basics

By Blogger Sriram Vanamamalai, at 09:06

  • Nothing fishy - entirely predictable. The moment NZ crossed 150 India's fate was sealed. It was just a matter how they would contrive to screw this up and I have to admit they managed to lay on a particularly gruesome performance today :)

  • Prem..its not over yet. Where are you going, you pessimistic, 'giving-up early' fellow :-)
Ok, take care. See you on Sunday, next game day. Or not ? You said Monday here.

  • U talked about Shane Bond being the super sub ... if NZ bowls, then they immediately bring him in and they r no worse off than if thee was no super sub ... and if they bat first, they r with a huge advantage coz Bond comes in only in the second innings.

The thing here is - with this super sub option, the question is really of a team's greed ... NZ has just opted for an option whereby they r not greedy ... they r not trying to get a good deal whether they bat or bowl ... they r willing to get a "even-steven" deal if they bowl first.

Since the super sub has to be declared before the toss, don't u think the value of the super sub goes down a bit ... in the sense it becomes a gamble based on the toss ... if a guy calls correct, in addition to getting to choose batting or bowling, his super sub also gets utilitized properly ... if he loses the toss, in addition to not having a choice on first hit or first bowl, he also has to take second best where using his super sub option is concerned.

Would have been much better if super sub could be named after the toss.

    Cheers

  • Worma Right we will win handsimely against Zim and all the sins shall be forgiven right?

By Blogger Sriram Vanamamalai, at 09:17

  • I can see some effigies being prepared as we speak.

no doubt our resident greats like Yuvraj, Kaif and ganguly will show their wares against Zimbabwe :)

    By Blogger Piyush, at 09:18

  • indian cricket is littered with "IF ONLY" instances. in today's match yadav and pathan showing the rest of the batsmen how to bat in this situation
i'm an eternal optimist when it come to our cricket;lets see if they can pull it off

    By Blogger JD, at 09:20

  • JD I dont mind if we win Even if they pull our to some respectable total I will be happy, Does anyone know the pitch conditions there. Sorry I started following very late in the game

By Blogger Sriram Vanamamalai, at 09:25

  • JD one more thing Shabe Boond was not bowling to JP yadav and Pathan and cant really say how they would have reacted to him

By Blogger Sriram Vanamamalai, at 09:26

  • One more thing crossed my mind when we were 39/6 We have our highest score against NZ and though that we willhave our lowest also against them:)

By Blogger Sriram Vanamamalai, at 09:26

  • what sins sriram ?? :-)

    By Blogger worma, at 09:28

  • i agree that we all are cricket lovers and loves to talk about it
but whether india wins or loses (however pathetically) don't we think
a little too much discussion is going on here about a game called cricket?
all these excellent brains, minds, thoughts and analysis should be
considered a resource - a very valuable resource that. i only wonder
what if we were talking about something useful, some thing positive.
enjoy cricket - its your right, entertainment or whatever that is.
should we look at it as an a kind of addiction? we all wake in the morning
thinking about cricket, don't we? whats going on here? give cricket its
due and leave it at that not saying don't watch it or talk about it?
you ask what suggestion i have? think about your community where you live
if not the humanity. if you look around provide your services in any
charity organizations you will derive more satisfaction and pleasure than
any of these games can give you, i guarantee it. again we are intelligent,
we can think of ways to spending time positively and efficiently the some
    thing good.
