Have u been following Ambati Rayudu? Looks like he has disappeared ... Past 1 year has seen so many youngsters coming in and getting chances ...but this guy is nowhere.

I thot he wud b the future of indian cric if handled properly

For me, Ambati has been a must pick for close to two years now; in fact, he went off the boil last season and when not picked for the camp, admitted as much. I remember him saying it was his fault for not making enough runs to merit selection. Fair enough, but I think the fault also lay partly with the selectors for not picking him earlier, when he was really buzzing. Natural player, and yes, he's going to be in this team in a key role, I would think sooner than later. Oh, btw, interesting thing was, GC is aware of him -- in his first press conference after taking over, he mentioned Rayudu as part of India's future. In fact, if I remember right, he mentioned some of the current players, and only Rayudu from outside the existing frame, which is an indication of how valuable the lad could be

  • Guys, how about Suresh Raina, is he a promising player, didnt get much chance this Videocon Cup.

  • from what little i saw of rayudu, i don't think he has it in him to play the big league... not seen much of him in a long long while

  • Prem,
I watched Rayudu live in a Ranji match. I'm no expert, but, he did not come across to me as a future Test/ODI player. His batting stand was open, good fast bowler will get him easily. This was in Dec 2002. I'm not surprised he is not at national level even now.

Also, he had a argument with SHiv Lal Yadav, with his batting position in Hyd team. After that incident, he transferred to Andhra team.

Rayudu is not such a big talent as TOI made us believe with column title...'Rayudu is new Sachin" or something to that affect.
