Small screen, big problems

Update on the telecast issue (damn, there are so many 'issues' involving the BCCI, it's getting to where you need a secretary just to keep track): The bidding for rights remains in limbo, till September 8.
Let me see if I have this one right: Last time around -- in fact, the last two times around -- the BCCI managed such a muckup on the telecast issue it ended up having to fire-sale the rights to DD. Result, much loss of revenue.
So it won't ever happen again, they say, this time we will do it kosher, we will invite tenders, we will do everything by the book. Uh oh, though -- apparently the conditions built into the tender application are designed to achieve a particular result; to wit, keeping out those the BCCI doesn't want. Ergo, another court case.
Why, I sometimes wonder, does the BCCI have to be dragged down the straight and narrow path, kicking and screaming every step of the way? Why not just chose it of its own volition, in the first instance?
*pause, while I clear my throat for the standard sign off* Has happened, will happen -- until, unless, a professional management structure falls into place?
Chances of that happening? I'd think a fraction less than the chances of my scoring a debut Test century at Lord's, this lifetime.

  • Boss PP, just as I was indulging you briefly in the vision of a debut ton at Lord's, you spring a marginally more attractive proposition, that of a cosy weekend away with Ms. Schiffer. Is it something in the water of New York or is Katrina doing strange things to your previously untainted Calicut psyche?! :-)

In any case, dream on. Honestly though, am trying to think what one would go for, if there was the chance to opt for either 15 minutes of cricketing glory or a decadent time with a super model. There in lies a dilemma...for some....
