And we wonder...

...why we have zonal bias in selection? How could we not, given this kind of expectation, this kind of pressure?
Pranab Roy, the national cricket selector representing East Zone, appears to have emerged the villain responsible for deposed skipper Sourav Ganguly's exclusion from the Indian team.
From receiving bad press to Ganguly's fans burning his effigy, Roy, the son of former India Test player Pankaj Roy, is being criticised for "doing nothing" for Kolkata's favourite cricketer.

PS: Later, guys. Got to work.

  • L.P.Sahi mentioned...JD and Roy..are not helping guy from Kolkata...Sahi-saab is using all the cards. He is on a mission to get SG selected by 6th ODI..

  • I agree...Pressure is immense from the local folks on selectors from Zonal Areas. That is why they ALWAYS try to fight tooth-and-nail for the cricketers from their own Zonal Areas.
India is one-country - but, alas, with different languages and cultures, it is a VERY COMPLEX job to keep it in mind one Indian is equivalent to another Indian no matter which ZONE/STATE he/she is from.
HOPE WE ALL UNITE AS INDIANS - not as Zone/State folks.

  • " Rahul Dravid and his men have agreed to follow the Chappell way. The menu stars like this: Breakfast with cereals mixed in low-fat milk, baked bins, seasonal fruits and egg whites. While training, they are supposed to gobble fresh fruits, sandwiches or bread with low calorie butter or jam. In the beverage section, diet coke, fruit juice, coconut milk and water are a must. "

I like the "baked bins" and water as beverage - toilet paper of India is sickening

  • i still can't fathom how ppl in india find time to take to the streets to burn effigies of anyone and everyone they please to demonize. dont these guys work? dont they have to attend to personal matters? i mean who are these chaps who wake up one morning and burn effigies? hired goons?

  • lol @ prabu... chappell will prbbly eat what little hair he has left if he reads this ToI theory on the chappell way!

  • I really dont understand people who say this. Do they want Ganguli in the team or do they want to see India win. Whats the point in having your own people who dont perform. Ganguli had a long run, did well for India and has gone past his sell by date. Lets doff our hats to him and move on. There are quotes from all over Bangal from various worthies sayinh how could a guy who scored 15000 runs be ignored? Thats like insisting on sending an old veteran to war just because he fought and won some battles when he was young and fit

  • No buddy. I am serious. Both, my son and I were looking out for Prems photos but couldnt find any. Had just seen a group photo at NYSE some time ago. However these pictures are good and meant what I said. Sometimes just accept the thanks as they are given (now I am adding a hint of sarcasm :-))) Seriously, thanks..

  • Funny thing is, when rediff first published that cartoon of Prem, Prem said something that essentially put some doubts about the "accuracy" of the picture. It was in Panix station during the WC I think, that made me think that somebody drew a picture very different from Prem and I never truly believed that picture on rediff to be Prem. I always envisioned him to be someone "not bald" and with a beard. Half of what I thought is true!

  • The NYSE picture was of a similar person but that man seemed a lot shorter and was right at the end of group. These pics atleast give us a good idea of the person we (at least I and my son for sure!!) love to read from
