LBW?

That wasn't out -- pretty weird, that decision. Par, though -- AVJ gets his yes and no mixed up most of the time. Hariharan, sorry.

  • what happened?
Missing the stumps? Too high? Pitched outside leg?

  • Dhoni's been pumping iron big time. He looks all beefed up !

    By Blogger MM, at 02:35

  • mm, beefed up is the word. He's gobbled down Ranatunga's sheep (remember Warne?) and Lallu Prasad's cow.

  • sangakkara standing up to vaas ? does SL expect to stump someone when vaas is bowling ?

all dhoni needs to do is get an edge !!!

    By Blogger Shams, at 02:37

  • Excellent captaincy by Atapattu. Bringing in Vaas and Murali early. Gambling that they will not need them in the last few overs if SL get some wickets. Courageous captaincy.

  • Wow - you gotta be a pretty good keeper to stand up to Vaas. I am impressed, tho I agree - whats the point? For a runout?

    By Blogger TFFY, at 02:42

  • Prem, given this situation, who would Murali Karthik replace, Rao, or SRT?

    By Blogger samc, at 02:43

  • If this track is a batting paradise, I have to say I'm a wee bit nervous about Jayasurya belting the crap outta our bowlers...

    By Blogger Multy, at 02:48

  • i guess vaas knows the faster he bowls the faster the ball is going to disappear, so he is going to hold back a bit on pace and bowl a full length instead. But that makes the move even more crazy cause if Vaas misfires one down the leg, all the batsman needs to do is touch the ball and its 4 runs for the taking. Moreover the batsman will also realize the ball is going to come slower and play accordingly.

Prem any idea why the wk is standing up to vaas ?

  • tffy - did'nt get the Ranatunga-Warne comment

Where is Arun Lal - is he watching Willow TV from a laptop. His commentary sucks !

    By Blogger MM, at 02:54

  • sucks big time.

  • Prem,
please don't start too many threads. Its confusing for the user and he is at a loss to figure out where to post his comments.

It will be better if you just have one thread, "IND-SL 1st ODI", and that will be "one-stop-shop" for reading and posting comments related to this ODI. An example of this is the way Worma handled the super series threads.

    Thanks,
    Deepak

  • Deepak - chill - this is due to a tech difficulty --- no time to explain

    By Blogger @mit, at 02:59

  • good move to send in agarkar now (as much as I do not think he deserves a place in the India XXV)

    By Blogger MM, at 03:02

  • mm, The Ranatunga sheep reference re. Dhoni was a joke. Warne saw Ranatunga in SL and said he looks like he has gobbled a sheep. To which Ranatunga replied 'at least I didn't take what he has' (referring to his diuretic pill).

Now lets ee if Bombay Duck can do something nice.

    By Blogger TFFY, at 03:03

  • Duck is gone

    By Blogger @mit, at 03:06

  • pathetic commentary ... arun lal didn't even know if the batsman had run 2 or 3 runs during the missed catch and then you could hear him in the background expressing suprise that 3 runs had been run !!

    By Blogger Shams, at 03:08

  • tffy - oh yeah, i remember that - good one.

bombay dick did what he does best - nothing. what a waste... if he does not come good with the ball he is history.

lankans look worn out today, not seen them look so lacklustre in a long long time

    By Blogger MM, at 03:08

  • Bombay Duck's goose is going to be cooked by Chappell. Ambling for the second run!

    By Blogger TFFY, at 03:08

  • There are only two people who shouldn't be doing commentary in ODIs. Arun Lal and Chris Tavare.

    By Blogger TFFY, at 03:11

  • And Dravid is known as the wall. What a good innings coming in when both the explosive batsmen were gone.

    By Blogger TFFY, at 03:12

  • Dravid's innings was a masterpiece, a captains knock ! Paced it to perfection, ran the tight singles, took risks when the situation demanded and really kicked it up a knoch in the last 3 overs !

  • Prem, did you try and create another login? It might work.

    By Blogger siddhu, at 03:19

  • Who is the $(%**#*&ing moron who blocked Prem out? Shame on you dude

    By Blogger Kannan, at 03:22

  • Chappell has played Irfan at No. 3. With Yuvraj there and Dravid too. And Dhoni after that - he has very much made sure Ganguly will not be back in ODIs. And if Irfan can mature as batsman - another 10 - 15 innings will show us that, we can then play 5 genuine bowlers in ODIs along with bit bowlers.

I will not be surprised if the selectors might have planned Ganguly for Test matches as captain - more as a compromise for all that happened - but let's see

India has done very very well while batting. Let's see how Dravid marshalls his resources. Logically he should not lose from here!

  • Prem, did you try creating another login id? It might work.

    By Blogger siddhu, at 03:28

  • hmm..all very well but we indians always start with a flourish - but can we last the whole race? "time will tell" :-)

By Blogger Mock Turtle, at 03:29

  • Who knows the selectors may actually be ending the one-day career of Ganguly. Remember when match-fixing broke out, Indian team banned Jadeja, Azharuddin, Ajay Sharma. Nayan Mongia was exonerated due to lack of evidence yet kept out of the team inspite of being the best around. Me thinks that for team-morale, Ganguly might be kept away from the one-day team and even the test team for that matter.

  • mock turtle, looong time no see :)

    By Blogger Toney, at 03:37

  • yeah, i was hurt by all the abuses hurled at me here ;-)

i check this place only during mathces...
