Good job India

Must confess I love the look of this side. Too often, we tend to pick our A-list players even for dead and/or no-account games -- which is nice for players looking to fill their boots with soft runs, but not so good when it comes to really testing our bench and giving the younger players an opportunity for match practice.
Love it, therefore, that the think tank opted to rest Sachin, Irfan and Bajji; it gives the likes of Yuvraj Singh responsibility, and an opportunity to take ownership; it gives Gambhir, Rao, Raina et al a chance to lay claim to permanent berths in the side. And equally, I'm glad Dravid is not hung up on playing his 'best' team in a bid to rack up positive results thus strengthening his claim to the captaincy.
On another note, am not yet in a position to sit up for long periods, so won't be on this full time. Will, though, be watching -- and as and when the game throws up points of interest, will throw them up here as separate posts. See you guys, anon.
Oh, and incidentally? I suspect Lanka played into India's hands by inserting -- that grass there is so much talk about is, IMHO, going to do little or nothing for any of the Lankan seamers; it seems to be just binding, not the sort of live grass that will significantly aid seamers.

  • Nice Blog!!!   I thought I'd tell you about a site that will let give you places where
you can make extra cash! I made over $800 last month. Not bad for not doing much. Just put in your
zip code and up will pop up a list of places that are available. I live in a small area and found quite
    a few. MAKE MONEY NOW

  • @prem
    glad u r back!
well said - good strategy here on selection.

And also, as opposed to the previous regime , they seal the series first and later experiment for future sake. I thought earlier, Ind did the experimenting first and later brough on thr A team,
    Well done!

  • GG on a roll here! where was Ind hiding him all this time ?!
I heard he is a great fielder too!

  • I dont think thts good strategy...
unless ofcourse GG is long term prospect...Going by the looks of it, with him not even a certainity in teh test team...this seems pretty odd.

I would have expected, as many rotations for the opening spot as he did for 3 down.

  • why did they take out Zoysa after that great over?

  • Yuvraj 16 dot balls on the trot!
he wants a biggies doesn't he!

  • 11.5 Zoysa to Gambhir, no run
11.6 Zoysa to Gambhir, no run, pitched up outside the off stump, defended to point, fielder charges in and cuts off the single

  • freakin Yuvraj was disaster waiting to happen; on this batting pitch was struggling to put bat to ball.
    needs a stint in domestics
