    By Blogger Yacrik, at 23:54

  • Yup thanx..if only india can bat well now

    By Blogger Ridham, at 23:55

  • dhoni will be under a lot of pressure today

By Blogger Chetan Reddy, at 23:55

  • thnx ...

    By Blogger ilovecricket, at 23:55

  • What a great blog! I couldn't derive half the fantastic ideas that you come up with.
My diaper cake site is a little off your topic but noteworthy. You have some deep thoughts. Your last post uncovers a lot about you. Keep the fabulous ideas coming! Let's say a prayer for our boys in Iraq and hope for the best.

By Blogger diaper king, at 23:55

  • Hey, you have a great blog here. I know this has nothing to do with your site but I have a new blog that I've just started, its been up for a couple of days. I gave my blog a cool title which seems to attract visitors:

Have you got any suggestions about stuff you would like to read about??? Take a look if you get the chance. I want my blog to be cutting edge...a good read. lol...your'll understand when you see it!

The other site I have is a work from home moms site. Its all about, need I say it, working from home. I think people should have the choice to build their own income instead of somebody else’s. Freedom of well being and all of that...anyway take a look see what you think.

Keep up the good work, I'll be back to visit + I'll be at any suggestions you have about my blog.

    By Blogger reni, at 23:56

  • phew

But its good, lets see if yuvi can do anything now!! I mean anything

    By Blogger KB, at 23:56

  • wonder what is a good score on this pitch...

    By Blogger ilovecricket, at 23:56

  • LOL, nice timing, Prem. I just put up another thread

    By Blogger Toney, at 23:56

  • prem, aren't you going to post your 10 over recaps?

By Blogger Chetan Reddy, at 23:56

  • luck favors the brave! Yuvraj is on a roll here... might get a hundred at this rate...

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 23:56

  • dude dont jinx him!!
All I can read are edges!! Thats too much luck!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 23:57

  • @Prem, Thank You.The last ball by Nel went through second bounce to Boucher.

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 23:57

  • 19 overs. 70 for 5. 2 runs coming off the last over. Runs really dont matter. shd Consolidate for another 10 overs before you can think about runs.

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 23:58

  • With 2 lefthanders on, I was expecting to see Botha...guess GS will wait till powerplay is over

By Blogger The Straighter Neo, at 23:58

  • I love cricket, not sure of a good score, I still think, mind u havent seen the pitches, but knowing India, need 280 to be competitive!!Pitches ease up in the baking sun and then everything goose kaboom!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 23:58

  • Attack is the best Consolidation now

    By Blogger Neelesh, at 23:59

    By Blogger Allan, at 23:59

  • I think toss did it; bad toss to lose! the team has to show the character now and see how they come out of this initial shock; An early test for GC's processes mantra. Kinda nice really... will soon find out before it is too late.

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 23:59

  • is it Good Riddance to RAVI SHASTRI in this commentary team for SA series?

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:00

  • straighter one, no way is botha coming on for the next 10 overs. You have the indians on the mat, with the pitch seaming!!! No way man

    By Blogger KB, at 00:00

  • Unnecessary swing by Pathan. He just needs to be patient and not go for wild swings. Lucky there.

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:00

  • England is cruising to victory at Multan; bad for the subcontinent!!!

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:00

  • The recent changes of powerplay and supersub have made ODIs more interesting.
One more change I want to see is to split the game into 4 quarters of 25 overs each. This way the advantage of toss is nullified (with regard to moisture/slowing down/casking of pitch) to certain extent. This will produce even closer games. This might also lead to shorter games.

    By Blogger siddhu, at 00:01

  • I think Botha might bowl seam up

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:01

  • I am not sure the tossd had anything to do with us being 35/5!!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:01

  • 20 overs - 71 for 5

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:01

  • Ok. Poor batting today - Dust it off and we will live another day

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:02

  • nah
they have Jacques up their sleeve yet. No seam up for botha

    By Blogger KB, at 00:02

  • Did NEL just HUMP Yuvi

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:02

  • Dravid said he would have bowled; no way Ind could be 35/5 with the toss; it might have been 100/0 SA , but surely not 35/5 India

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:02

  • Did NEL just HUMP Yuvi

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:02

  • This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

By Blogger The Straighter Neo, at 00:02

  • What's NEL upto? weirdo!!!

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:03

  • there are 80 overs to go.. what makes you tink we will lose this one?

    By Blogger SHRI, at 00:03

  • kb....sorry forgot about Kallis...will take my comment back

By Blogger The Straighter Neo, at 00:03

  • Nel may have just bumped into Yuvi... This guys is a bit of a brute... Bring it on, I say!

By Blogger Mohan Krishnamoorthy, at 00:04

  • is it the pitch or just bad batting? i am stunned at the score.

I althought i still think this is an excellent opportunity for Yuvi, phatan and Dhoni to get us to a respectable total.

I remember in 96 world cup semi final i think Aus were in similar tatters when Law and Bevan got togather in a wonderful partnership and i my heart takes me to that time to draw some inspiration.

In the mean while those SG supporters dont wag your tails too much.

    By Blogger rahul_fan, at 00:04

  • hello ppl ....

sorry for repeating this request .....
just wanted to check if anybody is using Sporting Streams ...
If so , is it the same 4 links from the SL matches ....

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:04

  • banned in thirty states, what they just did.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:04

  • It once again proves the pathetism of indian cricket.

By Blogger idli vade, at 00:04

  • what s with the humping? u guys watching cricket or HBO?

    By Blogger KB, at 00:04

  • yuvi is not your bitch dawg..this smart ass is trying to unsettle yuvi

    By Blogger Neelesh, at 00:04

  • India have only 4 regular bowlers now. Will be difficult to defend even a respectable total here.

    By Blogger siddhu, at 00:04

  • Against quality bowling, even Sachin looks mortal. I guess we got too carried away belting bad bowlers on fast wickets

    By Blogger Vijay, at 00:05

  • Humper Nel...Hey Gay guy

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:05

  • nel is having a whale of a time...good bowling really!

    By Blogger imaCktFan, at 00:05

  • it is the pitch; very uneven bounce; moving a lot off the pitch; bad pitch really; Ind tough luck...

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:05

  • Lovely over by Nel. Used the bouncer very wisely. Well played by Yuvi. patience is the key. 21 gone 71 for 5

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:05

  • Nice chick they are showing on TV

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:05

  • England going good at 56/1. 141 reqd. to win.. 50 p'ship b/w Bell and Strauss

    By Blogger Raju, at 00:05

  • wish I could see the Blore match, could have given a piece of my mind when Nel comes to the boundary

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:06

  • Did others see the nice chick...good pastime when score is not good?

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:06

  • India have only Pathan, Singh, Agarkar and Bhajji as frontline bowlers. SRT may have to bowl seam-up stuff. GG was wasted. Ppffffffft...

By Blogger Mohan Krishnamoorthy, at 00:06

  • true we do have only 4 bowlers, but remeber this is what we used to do all along till super sub came along
So 1. need some sort of a decent score.... ya right!!
    2. Need early wickets .. and lots of them
    3. Sachin, veeru need to turn their arm over and get a few good ones in the middle !!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:06

  • yep thats what i said... what nel did was p0rn

    By Blogger indiansportsfan, at 00:07

  • I guess Hyderabad association is in JD gang.. please verify..

By Blogger Thanks Chappel, at 00:07

  • 20.1 Nel to Yuvraj Singh, no run, inside edge on to the pad and the ball
falls dead on the track, Nel goes all the way down and wraps his
hands around Yuvraj and stops him from moving - all in good spirit

    By Blogger SHRI, at 00:07

  • anyone noticing... langeveldt is bowling 142+ ~!!!!

    By Blogger indiansportsfan, at 00:07

  • oh enough with the JD gang man!!! Its apitch, these are international players, they better cope up with it? Do u think it was the pitch that caused GG's wicket?

    By Blogger KB, at 00:08

  • Most SA guys are bowling quick easily 142+...SL was hardly 135

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:08

  • Nice shot by YS. good sweet flick

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:08

  • ha there is a diff, I am sure the same track against SL would have been a dead one!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:08

  • 22 overs - 78 for 5

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:09

  • COME on BOTHA!!! where r u hiding??

By Blogger Glorious Uncertainty(GU), at 00:09

  • can you guys tell me what the speed of their bowlers in the descending order??

    I'd appreciate that.

    By Blogger rahul_fan, at 00:09

  • england winning this in a canter

    By Blogger natty, at 00:10

  • Prem, Could u notice the difference the Bloggers today. During SL series, many will be here giving this and that opinion, but the moment things go wrong, either too pesimistic or silent. well, as u told once, we bloggers also need patience and should give allowance for one bad day.

    By Blogger Krishna, at 00:10

  • hello ppl ....

sorry for repeating this request .....
just wanted to check if anybody is using Sporting Streams ...
If so , is it the same 4 links from the SL matches ....

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:10

  • its is to be expected a teeam that has won 19 straight will come at you hard and early!!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:10

  • pollock was 130-135 but accurate, ntini nel and langeveldt bowling 140+ easy. kallis used to bowl 140 but havent seen him recently, i guess hes slowed down a touch due to injuries

    By Blogger indiansportsfan, at 00:10

  • @KB, I think GG gifted his wicket away to a bad ball. Stupid shot from a good batsman. Botha to bowl his first over now.

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:10

  • Botha may not need to bowl! Kemp bowls seam-up. Kallis is still there...

By Blogger Mohan Krishnamoorthy, at 00:10

  • kb, sachin, veeru can bowl and be effective when
    1. pitch is turning square
    2. india puts up a huge score not a respectable score

    By Blogger siddhu, at 00:10

  • Fireworks begin! Here comes Botha

By Blogger Ranjit Nair, at 00:11

  • I think this is realy good, better than SL. This is the best time for the youngsters to learn against a tough team on a roll!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:11

  • This is the danger period for YS since he is susceptible to spin. Play him out and ask IP to take him on.

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:11

  • Well I must say...SA took India by surprise there.....Guess we will now see how much of backbone India has..One thing is certian..it will be much more pleasure to defeat these guys than the poor Atapattu and his foreever long face

    By Blogger ilovecricket, at 00:12

  • no, probably the right conspiracy theory is they're mad about laxman and VR. but I think it's pathetic to blame the pitch. Ganguly's biggest problem was that for a long time he wouldn't admit he had a problem. The same thing applies to the Indian players blaming the pitch, which is really not that bad.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:12

  • very surprised to see botha. But this might be a grweat move for SA. Good time for him to bowl his first few overs, I guess.. No pressure can toss it up

    By Blogger KB, at 00:12

  • 4 by pathan..that right try and hump that botha!

    By Blogger Neelesh, at 00:12

  • 23 overs 83 for 5. well played, IP

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:13

  • Common, whats going on guys, cricinfo wont update? Someone out?

    By Blogger KB, at 00:13

  • how did GG? get out ........was it a bad shot

    By Blogger rahul_fan, at 00:13

  • with the wicket easing.. and pathan and yuvi settling down.. Ntini has bowled 8... Pollock 5... Nel in his 7th.. Langevldt 3... its going to be interesting.. and with dhoni and agarkar to follow... if these two can play another 15 overs... match on

    By Blogger SHRI, at 00:13

    By Blogger Allan, at 00:13

  • rahul_fan
rank bad shot under the circumstances

    By Blogger GK, at 00:13

  • suicidal run...

    By Blogger Jiet, at 00:13

  • shri
lets not get too hopeful too early

    By Blogger GK, at 00:14

  • L Siva stating a great fact about the 50 run partnership, "The best partnership of the innings so far" ;-)

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:14

  • nobody's out.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:14

  • rahul ;
GG flashed at a ball wide of the body, like the 4 ball he faced!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:14

  • Indians in the balconey looking very relaxed.. smiling away .. only the bloggers here are tense!

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:15

  • 85/5
    23.2 OVERS

    By Blogger Allan, at 00:15

  • Smith making a big mistake here.
He should go for the kill and bowl Pollock/Nitini/Nel and try to get atleast 2 wickets and finish the game.

    By Blogger siddhu, at 00:15

  • don't now what's going on with cricinfo. 85-5 23.3

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:15

  • man the commentators should be paid to keep their mouth shut

    By Blogger KB, at 00:15

  • I mean the players like SRT,VS are smiling and in a relaxed mood!!

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:16

  • Well GC aint smiling...but that not saying much is it!

    By Blogger Neelesh, at 00:16

  • 23 overs up now (score = 83 for too many!)... Yuvi and Pathan would need to bat on for at least another 17 overs. They need to bat overs and just play percentage cricket from now on in. If they can get to 150 at the end of 40 overs, then there is a chance that Dhoni and Agarkar could take India to a score of about 220 or so. Could make things intersting from then on in. Yet, India could get hurt by GG's substitution...

By Blogger Mohan Krishnamoorthy, at 00:16

  • The indians in the balcony dont pay a fortune to watch these games!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:16

  • I dont understand how they can sub Murali Karthik.
He will surely be missed while india bowling. South Africna's are known for their struggle agaisnt quality left arm spin

By Blogger idli vade, at 00:16

  • 50 run partnership

    By Blogger SaintHari, at 00:16

  • Ian Bell gone.. Eng 64/2

    By Blogger Raju, at 00:16

  • gk.. this is cricket.. whats to say the proteas wont collapse lso.. there is a long way to go..

    By Blogger SHRI, at 00:16

  • I dont understand how they can sub Murali Karthik.
He will surely be missed while india bowling. South Africna's are known for their struggle agaisnt quality left arm spin..
    Selectors are crap.

By Blogger idli vade, at 00:17

  • 24 overs - 86 for 5

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:17

  • but then , whats the point of having long faces!!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:17

  • Bell gone.. to Kaneria

    By Blogger SHRI, at 00:17

  • Guys this is interesting .... I was just reading the rule on subs .... there is nothing there that says that the sub can not be re-subbed. We should be able re-sub GG for MK when we bowl ... Mk can definately not bat though ... Any body has a different view .... or knows more about the sub rule

    By Blogger indCric, at 00:17

  • Not to jump on the band wagon or off it at the wrong time .. but surely Kaif neds to be looked at for his contributions .... cant remeber the last time he came off at the top of the order and cant say his utility at this point has been that great.. doest have the big hitting capability at the bottom....

Would be interesting for the tests ... i bet he cant hold onto his test berth....surely even Gangs is better?

    By Blogger BTB, at 00:18

  • meanwhile elsewhere England slowly chugging along... England require another 134 runs with 9 wickets remaining in a maximum of 80 overs left in the day. Kaneria being introduced finally. However Bell and Strauss have already put up 50+ partnership and looking good.

By Blogger Rahul Kulkarni, at 00:18

  • naksha,
The subbing thing is based ont he need of the hour and the need of the hour was a batsman!!!He didnt score, cant do squat about it!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:18

  • indcric, can you paste that rule here?
    Bell gone, Pak back in?

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:18

  • Collingwood to stake claim for a permanent spot in the team! Eng still needs 134; a fine 50-60 here should do enough!!

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:18

  • oops bell gone

By Blogger Rahul Kulkarni, at 00:18

  • btb
u need to go only as far back as kaifs 4th last match against nz in zim

    By Blogger GK, at 00:18

  • guys instead of getting the score from cricinfo you can try and download chat application from here:
This will give the same cricinfo commentary but is 1000 times faster as it is purely text based and real-time!!

    By Blogger siddhu, at 00:19

  • Kaneria to Bell, out Caught by Akmal!! pitched fractionally short, spins away, a quicker one by Kaneria, Bell goes for the cut but finds the thick edge and Akmal enjoys the take! Kaneria strikes! I Bell c K Akmal b D Kaneria 31(45) 4s-2 6s-1

    By Blogger SHRI, at 00:19

  • don't worry flintoff will single handedly win this one

    By Blogger Neelesh, at 00:19

  • If we are ~110/5 after 30, we can double the score in the next 20.. and with MSD to come, an additional 20-30 runs are possible.. which means a 240-250 is expectable from this Indian team.. so far good common sense batting by YS and IP.. Partnership at nearly 4 an over after losing 5 early wickets is great..

    By Blogger Raju, at 00:19

  • I dont think so you can re-sub once it has been used. And MK is a decent bat, actually more than that. If uses his brains, thats the big IF, he can be a very decent bat

    By Blogger KB, at 00:19

  • thanks, rahul

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:20

  • My understanding of the rule is that a substitution can be made ONCE in the game. So, re-subbing is nada...

By Blogger Mohan Krishnamoorthy, at 00:20

  • 25 overs - 89 for 5

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:20

  • what is mirc?

    By Blogger @mit, at 00:20

  • strauss gone!!!

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:20

  • Bell can't play spin! they might drop him for rest of the series and against India.

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:20

  • Like I said .... I am surfing the web for the exact rule .... I am getting lot of articles on how the subs can be used .... No where I am finding that the sub can not be re-subbed .....

    By Blogger indCric, at 00:20

  • GK .. but has he delivered in tough batting conditions (like today)?

    By Blogger BTB, at 00:20

  • Eng need 134 in 80 with 8 wickets in hand

By Blogger Ranjit Nair, at 00:21

  • strauss gone

By Blogger Shyam Prasad, at 00:21

  • Who Says Murali Karthik cant bat?
He has several first class hundreds.
And recently he hit a terrific 87 agaisnt the rest of india..
IMO he is a genuine alrounder

By Blogger idli vade, at 00:21

  • Kaneria!!!

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:21

  • Kartik bats like a tailender; not internation class

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:22

  • once gambhir is subbed then kartik cannot take any part in the rest of the match. the substitution is soccer style. Once subbed, you can no longer come back into the game...

kartik will definately not be able bowl in SA innings

By Blogger Rahul Kulkarni, at 00:22

  • IP losing concentration here. swinging with no conviction

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:22

  • LETS GO PUKIS!!!!!!

    By Blogger SHRI, at 00:22

  • Kaneria vs Peterson ... Interesting

    By Blogger KB, at 00:22

  • Strauss gone too.

    By Blogger Jiet, at 00:22

  • siddhu, what is the irc server address and port?

By Blogger Chetan Reddy, at 00:22

  • sportingstreaks sucks big time... Even the Eng-Pak match comes in patches with terrible buffering problems..

    By Blogger Raju, at 00:23

  • 90/5

    PATHAN 36
    YUVI 42

    By Blogger Allan, at 00:23

  • you get what u paid for my friend!!!

    By Blogger KB, at 00:24

  • If mIRC is 1000 times faster than CricInfo, could you please tell me India's score at the end of 50 overs in the current game pls? :-)

By Blogger Mohan Krishnamoorthy, at 00:24

  • collingwood gone

    By Blogger Jiet, at 00:24

  • 26 overs - 93 for 5

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:24

  • collingwood gone!!!

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:24

By Blogger Shyam Prasad, at 00:24

  • yo whats the deal..if england lose..does india go to no 2

    By Blogger Neelesh, at 00:24

  • Collingwood OUT!

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:25

  • Collingwood gone too.. sami strikes.. wickets fallling like nine pins here..

    By Blogger Raju, at 00:25

  • ENG 4 DOWN ! curtains for Collingwood!!!

    By Blogger Yacrik, at 00:25

  • Go Pakistan!! Beat the sh** out of the firangis

By Blogger Rahul Kulkarni, at 00:25

    By Blogger SHRI, at 00:26

  • Time for Freddie and KP to finish the game for Poms...

    By Blogger Raju, at 00:26

  • suddenly, its not a walk in the park for England.

Lets see if Freddie can get England out of trouble yet again...

By Blogger Saurabh Wahi, at 00:26

  • Eng will probably win ... but match may go down to the wire

    By Blogger @mit, at 00:26

  • prem, what do you make of the field placings?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:27

  • oh, freddie lucky there.

Suddenly this looks like a different pitch..

By Blogger Saurabh Wahi, at 00:27

  • Freddie will be Kaneria's next victim in just few overs for sure...

By Blogger Rahul Kulkarni, at 00:27

  • 27 OVERS

    By Blogger Allan, at 00:27

  • 27 overs - 98 for 5

    By Blogger sauravganguly, at 00:27

  • prem probably went to bed.

  • Destiny wants all the England-winning matches to be remembered as Freddie's matches...:-) After 8 wickets and 45 I innings runs, its time for him to finish off with a good 50 ...

    11-20 over phase

Dravid's dismissal was an eye-opener -- his eyes, that is; it seemed for a moment there as though he hadn't mentally settled down to face the ball. Very unusual to see his feet go in one line and his bat in another. Gambhir, rotated in for MK, had the chance to make a statement -- or underline the one he had made earlier -- but that flash wasn't what he needed there.
This phase has been fascinating -- partly for Nel's very peculiar approach stride, which is almost like a kid playing hopscotch; partly for the dead calm with which Pathan is batting; partly for the way Yuvraj seems to be leading a charmed life -- each time they pull away a slip, the edge goes there.
In between all those scares, though, the two settling down to a decent partnership; and slowly, despite the bowling staying tight, and the fielding being top-notch, the singles have begun to come; Pathan in particular exemplary in the way he taps the ball into gaps with his eye on that quick single.
The factor that could have long term impact is the pitch -- the bounce is easing off, the seam movement is less exaggerated, and what remains is the tendency to bounce low on occasion. Not clear whether this will get worse -- but even as is, there is sufficient uneven bounce to put a little bit of doubt in batsman's minds. You might need to revise the 'asking score' on this track -- to around the 240 mark, which should be at the least competitive.
An interesting question is when Smith will opt for his fifth bowler -- use him now and ease a bit of the pressure, or use him later and run the risk of running into say a settled Dhoni/IP/Yuvraj?

  • Is KP out??

By Blogger Rahul Kulkarni, at 00:30

  • I think Eng will win .... Their batting is a bit like Mumbai's. Mumbai's batting actually begins at no 6 eith RR Powar, Bahutle and Agarkar. The top order of eng very fragile especially without vaughan .... I feel Giles / Jones and Pieterson will do the trick ...
