Spot the CM

So did he make it to the ground, did anyone notice -- or was there only a banner? Andhra CM Rajasekhar Reddy, I mean? If you remember from a few days back, RR was threatening to boycott the game, unless the stadium was named after Rajiv Gandhi. Now that it has, presumably his political future is secure for some time to come?

  • Prem,

Well said about YSR, he is making sure, that his political future secured for this term and also, into next election. He will not miss any publicity events...maybe granted 'free power' to Shivlal Yadav.

  • Coming from A.P and reading all local papers, I am getting sick of this man. He tries to name every thing in A.P after Rajiv Gandhi. May be he will name rename Charminar as Rajiv Gandhi Charminar and thus can assure another term for himself.

  • prem,

he was there at the ground.. in the presentation party. He gave the man of the match trophy to yuvi..

    By Blogger Rahul, at 12:56

  • YSR one of these days will rename AP as Rajiv Gandhi Rashtram.

    By Blogger Rajg, at 12:56

  • I never knew Rajiv Gandhi was this popular in AP . I thought NTR would have a more popular vote ... anyway different party .. This reminds me naming/renaming parks and villages in in lucknow (or UP per say) with every political change

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 13:03

  • pankaj...not only villages....whole cities changing names!..forgot Gautam Buddha Nagar? ;-)

    By Blogger worma, at 13:05

  • Its not about popularity of Rajiv Gandhi. Any day NTR would beat him in popularity. Its all about Chamcha giri of the Congress politicians here in A.P . YSR is biggest of them. Funny thing nothing in A.P is named after PV, only prime minister from A.P. Even opposition suggested naming new airport after PV. But that would make madam angry. So, it is Rajiv Gandhi International airport.

  • Hey guys, be a sport.
    Rajashekhar Reddy ki Jai
    Sonia Mafia ki Jai
    Rajiv Gandhi ki Jai
    Bofors ki Jai

    By Blogger Toney, at 13:07

  • yorker...was the Hyd airport named thus during Congress times?..wasn't it earlier..

    By Blogger worma, at 13:08

  • worma, I am talking about new Hyderabad airport being constructed. Current airport has two terminals. Domestic is NTR terminal and International is Rajiv Gandhi terminal. Once new airport opens, current one would be disfunctional but NTR would not have a terminal after his name in new one. :(

    By Blogger Yorker, at 13:13

  • ohh ok...wasn't aware of the new activities in Hyd. Thx :-)

    By Blogger worma, at 13:14

  • Wait for a few more years and I am sure the stadium will be renmaed.

I do not know how many of you remember IMG Bharatha. It was moving fast when Naidu was the CM...with YSR...the multi million project is on hold for ??? reasons.

    By Blogger G285, at 13:16

  • Couple of places for YSR to Rename.

Rajiv Nadi : Musi River(Foul smelling drainage river in Hyd)
Sonia township : Mehendi(The red light district in Hyd)

  • Nice posts. *L*.

AP is stuck in Rajiv Mud for next 3 yrs or more. Going by his popular schemes....janata may keep voting for cong.

One thing i appreciate about YSR, he kept anothe scum bag KCR from running havoc with separate state thing...goondas know about goondas...they negate each other out.

  • Sure way for VVS and SG to get back into team - rename themselves.
VVS can become Rajiv gandhi and
    SG = Sanjay Gandhi

  • Jat.. are you saying with those names they will get to play cricket ??..
no matter what my political affiliation is, but wont malign names of Rajiv and Sanjay :)

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 13:42

  • mr. tripathi:
If anything I was maligning SG and VVS.
Both rajiv and sanjay sold-out their country (rajiv thru bofors & well, where do i start with sanjay - maruti).
VVS and SG did nothing of that sort. As far as I know they never soldout. If anything I was maligning SG and VVS.

    By Blogger jat_in_ny, at 13:46

  • Jat bhai,
The way things are going in India, I think the best way for SG and VVS is to approach MADAM. And don't ever mention Sanjay Gandhi. Madam will get angry.

    By Blogger Yorker, at 13:46

  • Hoggard got fined!!!
I thought that was a privilege only for colored players.
    Surprises never cease.

    By Blogger jat_in_ny, at 13:51

  • jat,
Just so that Hoggy doesnt feel lonely or sad that he was given the coolie treatment, Inzi (20%) and the rest of Pak team (10%) were fined for bowling two overs too slow

    By Blogger Toney, at 13:56

  • toney...remember how we discussed here that Ponting was behind on over-rate almost throughout the Ashes....I wonder how much 'slower' was Inzy....is there time duration given anywhere? Or anyone noticed?

    By Blogger worma, at 14:13

  • worma,
The report said that he was 2 overs behind. 2 overs means 8 minutes roughly? Assuming a 15 over per hour speed? Remember that 10 wkts fell in both innings too.

    By Blogger Toney, at 14:17

  • worma,
any idea if Inzi was guilty of this before? If this is a repeat offense, shouldnt he be suspended? :)
Who knows, Younis Khan might get to be captain for 4 matches of an ODI series before Inzi comes back

    By Blogger Toney, at 14:18

  • toney: I clearly remember reading during ashes that uptil 15 min of delay is not punished. Wonder that was a rule only for Ashes!! Its so frustrating that there is no clarity on this ICC fine related laws....we had a big tamasha during that SG ruling also...terribly pissed

About Inzy being guilty earlier....you know that it doesnt matter what he was guilty of earlier...it only matters what 'level of offence' he has been carrying...and then that is accordingly promoted. He was suspended at the end of Indian tour remember? missed out first test in Windies when Khan captained and Afridi had a tussle with him? :-)...now I dont know how this whole thing links...as I said...frustrating...this ICC punishment thingy

    By Blogger worma, at 14:25

  • Worma, remember now abt that Inzi suspension.

    By Blogger Toney, at 14:33

  • i thought the SA's were 10-12 mins late in finishing their quota
    was that even mentioned

    By Blogger JD, at 14:42

  • During the Ashes all the days went past the scheduled time and into the extra hour and even then sometimes Eng & Aus didn't bowl their stipulated overs. I didn't hear about any fine then. Clear double-standards.

    By Blogger ClannZĂș, at 14:53

  • clannzu, yeah I remember the Ashes thing....and many wondered at that time also why it never got attention from match referee. But who's gonna ask?....I wonder if Prem or someone else can take this up through media....and rake it up *big time*...

    By Blogger worma, at 15:10

  • Worma, dont talk about raking. Its fall now and I am tired of raking.

    By Blogger Toney, at 15:20

  • Anyone noticed that it is the black/brown match referees who are the worst enemies of Asian teams?

Pardon me as I might be seeing conspiracy theories where there arent any BUT some data points:
    * Bucknor vs. Dravid (ball scruffing)
    * Clive Lloyd vs. Ganguly (slow over - persistent)
    * Cammie Smith's non action on Slater in 2003 (he must have dreamt of becoming Slater's girlfriend - no other reason to ignore his rant against Dravid & Venkatraghavan).
    * Only when Mahanama was match referee yesterday was Hoggard fined.

    By Blogger jat_in_ny, at 15:53

  • toney LOL :-))...dont you love all those golden maple leaves ;-)

    By Blogger worma, at 16:04

  • yorker: The lack of respect given to PV from the Congress establishment is shocking, considering he was the one who used Manmohan Singh to turn the economy around. There were some pieces on Rediff about that during the time of PV's death and it was pointed out that the Congress government in AP didn't give a damn and there were more opposition party leaders than Congressmen at Rao's funeral. Goes to show that regionalism is only important when they want it to be.

By Blogger Sudo Nima, at 16:12

  • Alvin: Good point. PV is the best PM India ever had. He stayed away from most of the scum from AP....current CM did not get a cabinet post. Madam did not like him...because he cannot act like ManMohan Singh....touch feet every morning.

They should have burned him in his native village than putting up a drama even during his last journey.
