The aftershocks

An angry Kolkatta reacts to Sourav's ouster. Elsewhere, former players weigh in on the subject.
Notice the leitmotif? Everyone is asking, not why, but why now. Do you get the feeling that the selectors have merely compounded one error -- that of picking Sourav in the squad without being convinced of the reason -- with a far worse one, of dropping him when he did nothing to merit it, and will be hard put to understand it?
A quote from EAS Prasanna, from the above story:
Prasanna also expressed surprise over the inclusion of opening bat Wasim Jaffer in place of Ganguly, who was playing in the middle order.
"If they wanted Jaffer in the side, then the selectors should have dropped Gautam Gambhir," Prasanna asserted.
"To sum up, I feel that history has repeated itself. This is the manner in which we have been treating our heroes. And this is one more such case," he said.

Underlines the point I was making -- an earlier committee compared Ganguly and Zaheer Khan and picked the former; this one made the boo-boo of bringing in an opener in place of the former skipper.
