Welcome, watch out
A Mumbai Mirror story on the sort of welcome the Indian team received in Lahore.
For Mohammad Riaz and his 14 friends, welcoming the Indian team was serious business. The bunch, die-hard cricket fanatics, braved the rough winter to travel from Sheikhupura, some 40 kilometres from here, to receive the Indian squad that flew into Lahore.
Hungry and drowsy, they had to suffer an agonising four-hour flight delay. But they did not budge from the departure lounge.
“Don't want to miss a glimpse of Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Irfan Pathan,” Riaz said.
They were courteous in their welcome with a placard, “Welcome Indian brothers”. But another banner had a warning. “Irfan, Shahid Afridi is waiting for you!”
