Ind-NZ open thread

Right, here's the open thread for the (relatively) big game. I'll join in around mid-way into the first innings. Hopefully Prem and you guys are all in there by then.

Meanwhile, if you're in early, here's Telegraph's usual take on probable team for today. And the funny part, this about Rao's chances "He’s a youngster and, as important, doesn't lack character. For example, he didn'’t mind opening the other day. So, if an opportunity can be given, he won'’t be denied", a well-placed source pointed out from Harare. Hmm I wonder who this 'well placed' source can be :-)

  • If India win the toss they should bat first.... New Zealand need to be put under some pressure while batting

We saw what happened to them in the last two matches. India just need to survive the opening spell from Bond

  • I suppose batting slots are like party tickets, then

  • guys does anyone know why we arent giving raina a chance? or for that matter RP singh in the bowling dept? or are they mere tourists with our team? well i guess who wouldnt want a paid vacation anywhere? lets hope they choose to play someone in place of rao. i think the reason he ha sbeen persisted with is thanks to gangulys policy of giving a player a fair run. well this man doesnt seem to be cut for it as of now. lets give someone else a chance. another option for the next series could be calling abck dinesh mongia. i wonder what he did wrong that he has been booted.

  • Hi Everyone...well I was hoping the Kiwis would chase for a change because I doubt if they will do a good job of it. But looks like India going to be chasing today.

  • And our batsmen dont have to play out Bond this time. Poor Rao must be cursing the timing of Sehwag's fever

  • They're done with opening with Lou Vincent?...a mere 2 matches after a 172?!!!

  • wonder why SF chose to bat first on a helpful pitch! Does he consider that his self-inflicted ahndicap of Bond's absence means NZ no longer has nayone capable of taking wickets?

  • 1.5 Pathan to Astle, two runs, good length delivery, this one is
drifting on to middle and leg, Astle gets into a good position and
turns it away behind square on the leg side, this time third man
fails to cut off the second run.
    Whats wrong with cricinfo?
or has SG placed third man on the leg side :-)
