  • It keeps getting murkier and murkier.

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 19:36

  • Et tu, Sachin? Then Fall, Ganguly!

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 19:48

  • Dont remember exactly but wasnt it known before the Aussie tour that SRT would be out because of the injury? Hopefully, this "toursit" comment was the reason why he decided to play T3 and 4

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:20

  • ctip, mine works. Hussein in the studio, same link as yesterday

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:27

  • a lil bit of rain today morn at SCG< damn, dont want to lose any bit of time here

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:29

  • Read the "spiking" article. If true, it shows that selectors are thinking on the same lines that many of us are thinking on this blog: give ultimatum to VS and HS on their non-performance AND give long run to RD as captain to either solidify his position with good results or make way for someone else.

If true, it also shows that word of SRT still carries a lot of weight. On a lighter note, probably he can keep performing the clean-up act "quitely". ;-) He will have to be carefull of his own performances, though. He can't claim reservations of playing under someone if his own performances remain inconsistent.

  • cricktip:

SS is working for me too... yesterday's URL...

    By Blogger Unknown, at 20:30

  • Hussein talking abt Ponting's toss at Edgbaston and he was immediately reminded of his poor decision at Brisbane LOL

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:33

  • Has play started ?

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 20:33

  • nope, rain delay, seems like a slight drizzle. Curator says so...

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:36

  • file->Play URl (or cntrl L) Are you on a wired or wirelss connection? Enough bandwidth today?

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:41

  • ctip, I am not sure if it was the same as last week's ODIs, seemed similar. But I had used the one they sent through the automated email yesterday.
Also, try restarting your system. Yesterday was nt great, so dont go by that. Today seems fine

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:42

  • threat of my name? Didnt exactly understand :)

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:46

  • bigger crowd today

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:46

  • thats plumb

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:48

  • so for a change, Freddie gets him bowling over the wkt

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:48

  • damn, gilchrist out.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 20:50

  • roublen, its a good thing in a way. The WXI will look forward to the better batting conditions today

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:52

  • yeah, I wanted to see him bat a bit;) missed most of his innings yesterday.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 20:53

  • roublen, me too. I am sure WXI wouldnt miss him though, he climbed a bit into Vettori yesterday

    By Blogger Toney, at 20:57

  • interesting how many bowlers are front on these days. harmison, flintoff, mcgrath, lee. . .

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:00

  • Harmison starts up with a 9-ball over.

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 21:01

  • holding just says that he doesn't believe in a large leap for a bowler's delivery. Starting to drizzle.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:04

  • warne out edged flintoff

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:05

  • good ball, fullish good length on off, warne tries to defend, edges it. maybe a bit of outswing.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:07

  • somehow i dont agree with the whole aussies were on top at stumps on day 1.

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:12

  • flintoff does it again! lee out, edged to 1st slip.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:12

  • no, they weren't. it was about even.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:13

  • bowled slightly wide of crease, slanting in toward the off stump, pitches outside off and seemingly headed toward the stumps, lee plays to defend the slant, a bit of outswing and lee edges it to slip.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:16

  • exactly roublen, about even would be the exact words i would use, meanwhile flintoff sticking to basics and delivering, bad batting also i must say.

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:17

  • vick, it was doing that for me earlier. seems okay now.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:17

  • great throw from dravid.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:20

  • I didn't realize initially the umpires had given the runout either.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:20

  • guys, can you imagine, they lost their last 3 when I was away for 10 mins

    By Blogger Toney, at 21:21

  • Gotta agree with jiet...batting is going to be tough in these conditions and the metronome bowling. If World XI is 75-1 at lunch I will be happy.

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 21:21

  • ruchir, bob simpson says that modern batsmen aren't good at playing swing bowling. don't know if it's true. I guess it makes a diference if it's swinging at 137 or swinging at 127

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:23

  • yeah toney, the run out in particular was so sudden I din't realize it had happened. neither did Cricinfo, apparently.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:24

  • players are out on the field.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:28

  • roublen, not watching the match?

    By Blogger Toney, at 21:28

  • yeah, I am, guess I still have the instincts of someone who's not watching, though;)

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:29

  • Hussein has predicted Smith lbw before lunch :) Wonder if he remembers his "Graeme who" comment

    By Blogger Toney, at 21:29

  • south african batsmen have the most boring & ugly techniques possible. but they're solid, & get runs.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:31

  • You guys on SS, I have a few questions:
    1. What is the speed?
    2. Is it 7$ for a month as in just October or is it a month from the day I register?
    3. When is the India SL series?

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:37

  • ruchi, will reply once dinner is done, my hands are not free :)

    By Blogger Toney, at 21:38

  • month from the day you register. $7 a month, I think you have to sign up for 2 months at first. the 12 onedays are I think from oct 25 (or 23) to the last week of november.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:40

  • thanks toney, akele akele math khaya karo, hows the rain there by the way? it's a washout here man.
So looking forward to see VS and RD, especially because after the selection of the ODI Squad for SL it seems as though a new phase of Indian Cricket has dawned upon.

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:40

  • mcgrath not looking very accurate here. maybe having trouble with the swing?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21:40

  • do sporting streams telecast all 12 matches?

    By Blogger NaReN, at 21:42

  • live audio at www.abc.au/cricket

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:43

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:46

  • yeah indicric it's coming in live and i m a girl not a guy!

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:54

  • i m going at a tangent, i know we are brown and we love math so guys check out the show numbers on cbs 2, it starts in 5 minutes, superb application of math, axo sehwag reminding us of the strokemaker that he is, good stuff here, nice timing although he should try to play on the ground and not in the air.

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:55

  • i am just kidding! i know i am among the fewest teen girls who is into cricket

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 21:59

  • Maybe Lee shouldn't open the bowling...he is always expensive with the new ball. Not that I'm complaining...this is fun. ;)

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 22:00

  • Who are the commentators right now on ABC radio ?

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 22:03

  • GS is just overrated! Michael Vaughan should have been the opener and the captain for ROW

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 22:03

  • ruchi, MV's record in Aus is also awesome though I am not sure he is an exceptional captain. GS isnt either

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:04

  • india vs australia. ruchi, the show looks interesting

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22:05

  • Clarke's look on that Sehwag cut said a lot

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:05

  • roublen, touch wood

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:05

  • Wohoo the men in blue, the world's most solid defense player with arguably the world's powerful striker of the ball against the world's most potent attack, treat to watch :) (I managed to get a link where the quality sucks but hey something is better than nothing).

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 22:05

  • DOn't think Graeme Smith is over-rated at all...averages 55 in tests and has done well against Australia. Now whether he should be captain is another debate altogether. Still I think he did pretty well on the field yesterday.

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 22:06

  • damn

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22:08

  • damn, that looked like the SRT dismissal from WC 1999 (against who else). In fact, RD was out in similar fashion in that match too

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:09

  • time to relieve dravid of the burdens of captaincy;)

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22:11

  • now, the knives will be sharpened. RD burdened by captaincy LOL

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:12

  • Look at Lara shuffling...

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:12

  • its still indie-a vs australia

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22:12

  • I think Inzi will come good.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22:13

  • Inzi doesnt like Aussie test grounds

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:14

  • Lara always shuffles...but incredibly for all his movement and high back-lift he gets behind the ball and is able to place the ball to all parts of the ground.

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 22:14

  • why is shuffling a bad thing?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22:15

  • The last time Lara toured Aussie land, McG got him caught at point, bowling round the wkt. Lara seemed obstinate to want to slash at deliveries and McG had a good time. Wonder if the same will happen here.

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:15

  • The shuffle is part of Lara's flourish, awesome to watch

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:16

  • thanks chappel - technology is always good, when you have it, why not use it! and yes no more personal battles!

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 22:16

  • roublen with the swing movement due to the overcast conditions makes lara vulnerable to lbws.

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 22:17

  • roublen, understood why a shuffle isnt that great?

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:18

  • so that's why shuffling is a bad thing;)

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22:20

  • Fuck..Lara gone !!!

    By Blogger ClannZú, at 22:20

  • deserved to be bowled around the legs for that kind of a shuffle. Not the ideal preparations for a WI tour coming up. Noy, that'll be interesting, with some really good players in Samuels, Sarwan, Lara to face McG

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:21

  • Any bets on what Aaloo will score?

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:21

  • Oh, its Kallis

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:22

  • indcric, go to Sports Links, you'll see an email where you have to send a mail with cricket in the subject and your username in the matter part. Do that, you get the link

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:23

  • I meant "email ID", in the forum for this match, not "email"

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:23

  • Any guesses how many Sehwag will score?

    By Blogger Unknown, at 22:23

  • damn chappell... such high hopes? Actually, he just might score them. He hsas a knack of getting lucky chances...

    By Blogger Unknown, at 22:26

  • Very good eyes that Sehwag has, eyeing the ball like a football, makes a huge difference.

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 22:28

  • indcric, on home page, you'll see Forums
In Forums, go to Sports Links

    By Blogger Toney, at 22:29

we may have to wait for second innings i guess.
RD hasn't really played well thru-out this series.

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 22:42

  • pankaj, sad things dont work like I want them to :)

  • why did lara refuse to join the captains meeting .. The WI board is no better then Indian when its comes to player management .

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 22:50

  • indian:

I am getting 138 kbps... pretty good.

    By Blogger Unknown, at 22:52

  • indian:

right now it is 186 kbps...

    By Blogger Unknown, at 22:52

  • Alex apart from an admirer of the game do you suppot any cricketing nation in particular ?

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 22:52

  • BTW, has anyone heard anything new about Prem's wife?

    By Blogger Unknown, at 22:53

  • indian:

    You're welcome.

    By Blogger Unknown, at 22:56

  • ashvin, could be right. He's an opener, so the fielders are still in the circle, but maybe they're on the outer parts of the circle , unlike in tests.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22:57

  • Would lara be admirable of the technology usage in the game specially in LBW ?
Shuffling mostly used to be advantageous for batsman to avoind Plumbs . may not be any more ...

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:08

  • Also during IND-AUS series ,Ausses had their detailed study about Sehwag shots, They won't leave any field placing or bowling spot go futile if they are aware of it.
So let us give this guy some credit when he deserves.

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:12

  • back on air, and lara haha i don't know guys he just isn't the same class as tendulkar

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:12

  • guys any idea how much these row and aussie players get paid for these games?

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:13

  • Ruchi,
I think he is just out of touch ..
Playing great players watch is a different site ot behold.
I wont get to player to player comparison.
    Different players have different strengths

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:14

  • even if it increases LBW's it's still a good technology. earlier batters had uncovered pitches, no bowling machines to practice on, etc. these batters can handle harsher LBW's.

BTW. Sehwag's strike rate in tests is better than Bradman's. Sehwag's is 73. Badman's was like 60-65. interesting.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 23:16

  • sanjay manjrekar should be banned from commentary, what the hell is "with the advent of technology we wont see the sight of the players celebrating after getting the umpire's nod for a lbw decision"

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:16

  • so what part of the world are you guys from?

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:17

  • dravid seemed to commit too early.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 23:18

  • Ruchi the joy of getting a inside edge lbw is more then, getting a batman out with pads before wicket :)

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:19

  • i hope referrals to third umpires reduces sledging :)

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:21

  • jiet, not comparing him;) just saying that in scoring rate, at least, Sehwag scores as fast as Bradman. You're right that Bradman scored along the ground, rather than in the air.

    ruchi, bay area.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 23:24

  • Bretlee testing Sehwag withcouple of bouncers .
Somebody said in afternoon, they wont work in test matches as Indians can duck ,duck and then duck to bouncers.
BL may get his bowling runrate beeter if sehwag stays quite in this over

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:25

  • what was that 3rd or 4th no from BL

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:26

  • it will be fun to watch inzi and sehwag together on the pitch, ek aloo dusre aloo ko pukare

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:28

  • He has huge backlift as well

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:29

  • what would Kallis and VS talk discuss between overs ?

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:31

  • abbey no interaction between kallis and sehwag whatsoever

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:31

  • jiet right, forgot about gilchrist and flintoff. I've never seen Pieterson play.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 23:34

  • that was a class

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:34

  • sehwag welcoming watson with a sweetly timed boundary

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:35

  • Y take risks in tests for Running .. not worth

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:36

  • watson used to be a batting allrounder, until this year his bowling improved dramatically. Can bowl at 140K

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 23:37

  • @Yarchik
He should convey that to Aussis bowlers. We will see shos right

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:37

  • did you notice watson coming in way of VS during second run ?

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:39

  • heard that? haha, sanjay manjrekar tells benaud "i m waiting for an invitation from my old friend, sachin tendulkar" (when asked if he has ever driven a ferrari)

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 23:39

  • that was deliberate .. somthing Aussis think is their right ..

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:40

  • watch him now

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:40

  • that is uncurteous Kallis should congratulate him

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:46

  • I like the chase where till last inch fielder thinks he can stop the ball

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 23:51

  • ashvin, give him some credit. if it was just luck, he wouldn't be able to consistently survive the new ball. More willing to take chances than other batsmen, yes. whether he's luckier, not sure.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 23:53

  • right, he doesn't look particularly good playing the pull

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 23:56

  • yeah, ashvin, sehwag's power helps there. even his edges go a distance, or go at speed.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 23:58

  • holding rubbishing watson. saying he's not going to cut it as a frontline test bowler;)

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:01

  • should give credit to auusis for restricting SRT to minimise his pulls around mid wicket area..
After srikant we hardly have a goode hook-er :)

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:03

  • parthiv patel. seriosuly, maybe mohinder amarnath. navjot singh sidhu?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:04

  • I miss siddhu's commentry :)

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:05

  • interesting how mcgrath bowling at 130 still troubles the batsmen, watson bowling at 140 doesn't.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:05

  • Flute remember the series where Gillespie had him caught at midwicket few times ..

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:06

  • flute, agree. also, I found the article about sachin & ganguly interesting as well.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:06

  • tc .. has VS survived long to play spin :) Just kiidin.. lets wait and see

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:07

  • I always though michael clarke was pudgy.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:09

  • Was woods in India or he came down here for the classes ??

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:10

  • watson looks on the verge of tears.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:12

  • after watching sehwag bat, i think about his performances in the ODIs

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 00:12

  • great shot by kallis.. he seem to be doing a lot of effort for hitting four. VS shots are effortless..

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:12

  • well, he's bowling straight, fullish, outside off. Looks like he's trying to get movement but he's not getting much. probably needs to bowl middle-off stump, rather than outside off.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:14

  • guys what is it in the background? some bollywood music :-/

    By Blogger Ruchi's, at 00:14

  • yes ashwin watch kallis's effort when he hits on backfoot.

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:15

  • sehwag after warne ..
Most trusted way to treat aussis ..
    use aggression againt them

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:17

  • The worrying part is if they had pre made the mind why select him for challenger.
IMO the second match he played approacing his 100 played as negative.
as the team couldnt get a decent total.
but then SR should have been penalised as well.

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:20

  • yacrick, I guess they feel Laxman has some weaknesses in the oneday game, and they wanted to give some other players the chance to prove they can bat well, without Laxman's shortcomings. Also, maybe they wanted Laxman to work on his weaknesses. Cut out the booze, drugs, etc.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:20

  • Guys,
    Did indcric get sportinstreams working?

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:22

  • yacrik, joking:)

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:23

  • That ball 1 from Warne was IMO better than the one Strauss received

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:24

  • toney he thanked Ruchir some time back so hope the answer is yes

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:24

  • Playing Leg spin with leg is easier then with the bat :)

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:25

  • As some one was asking .. I see a deep wid wicket instead of Long-On for warne .

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:27

  • makes no sense to me, dropping vvs from ODIs, hey some players just can't field, but they more than make it up with their batting.

  • jiet, the ball that Strauss got didnt have as much drift as this one, which is prolly why VS was completely beaten on this. Anyho..
LOL pankaj. That seemed to be the SA startegy when they met some time ago. Funny thing was, guys like Cullinan failed even then

  • yacrick, the weaknesses I was referring to were sluggish running between wickets. too many dot balls, difficulty in accelerating after 30th over. knowing laxman, it just seemed funny to pretend his weaknesses were more interesting than that.

  • Does McGill have a googly?

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:28

  • I dont think Mcgill turns as much as Warne.
Ausses are gutsy team to play 2 Leg spinners.
Indian thinking mostly would be one leg spin on off spin

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:30

  • sehwag looks a little spooked by the deep midwicket and deep square leg. They're trying to get him to play straight.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:31

  • according to Cricinfo
    MCG:Bowling style- Legbreak googly

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:31

  • a good one, rahul? Or easily detectable one?

I remember watching an under 16 finals b/w Ind and Pak (Reetinder Sodhi's India) and there was Abdul Qadir's son Imran Qadir bowling fantastic googlies and leg breaks with great control. He may have ben 13-14 at the most

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:35

  • naren, you are 5 runs off, right?

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:36

  • Naren .. Now we know where are the bookies ....
Inzi survives .. Kallis threatened for run out

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:37

  • inzi and sehwag batting together would have been something

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:39

  • was inzi taking a stroll?

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:39

  • roublen, they can bat in the 2nd innings, both are history

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:40

  • THis is what fractional Quickness do..

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:40

  • wow Inzi looked lazy

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 00:40

  • damn, any bets on how many days this 6 day match will last?

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:41

  • come to think of it, for this show Aalu was angry that he was not selected!!!

    By Blogger Unknown, at 00:42

  • super super decision, but he could have given it to the 3rd umpire

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:43

  • I thaught Inzi's weight and Law of gravity could save him.
    Newton had more laws.
Why didnt they call third Umpire now.. No wonder hes is ICC's est umpire

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:43

  • ruchir, aaloo came all the way to score that one precious run. Wasnt it a treat to us spectators? Be fair, man

And Ash, my guess is 3 at this point

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:43

  • I want to see Dravid come home early to meet his new one... Hope this finishes soon..

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:45

  • tc, you think so? I guess even I might have been more effective than Gillespie on hindsight but then no one knew the kind of rut he was in.
A gillespie in form is always better than McGill on the seaming pitches in Eng

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:46

  • toney:

Yes, we must also remember that Aalu scored that one run for "the betterment of PAK cricket".....

    By Blogger Unknown, at 00:47

  • How well the english GOD plays spin ??

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:47

  • I am not so sure McGill would have done the same damage that SW would.

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:49

  • Inzi was there for the Captains conference.. Now because he was in sydney he decided to play :)

By Blogger Pankaj Tripathi, at 00:50

  • Anyhow, Watson wasnt too impressive today, right? Where is Brad Williams? He bowled ina couple of tests against India.

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:52

  • ash, wishful thinking.

    By Blogger Toney, at 00:54

  • Rather than a 6 day match, I would have preferred two 3-day affairs
